Coldplay – “Fix you”

October 20, 2011

This song randomly came on as I was listening to GLEE Radio on AOL MUSIC (yes, I’m a proud gleek) and I took it as a sign, of course. I felt that I was meant to listen to this song because of the lyrics;  the words are so meaningful and comforting to me with what I am currently going through. I want to dedicate this song to 3 of my closest girlfriend who are all going through very similar experiences. We are all going through this together and I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts that occurred to me as I was listening: It’s difficult to imagine being in a happier place but we won’t know until we let ourselves know. The act of letting go is such a powerful action; letting go opens up a space for wonderful things to come into our lives.  Have faith that things will be okay and that there is still so much that we don’t know we can feel. Please read or listen to the lyrics as they really complement this idea.

Lyrics:
When you try your best, but you don’t succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can’t sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you’re too in love to let it go
But if you never try you’ll never know
Just what you’re worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down on your face
And I…

A Real Man

October 10, 2011

What I watch when I need a small reminder that there are still a few real men out there:

On a similar note, yesterday at the Natural Living Expo, I met a poet – a sweet Jamaican man. As he overheard me talking about love & relationships to an old mentor of mine, he made a point to interrupt me and said to me “an empress like you should never have their heart broken”. Though he was just speaking in his usual poetic way, he didn’t realize that at that very moment, he made me feel so special and made me feel like a woman – like a goddess. I believe in signs and I do believe that this young man was meant to walk by me, overhear me and remind me what it feels like to be treated like a queen. You see, women are meant to feel like goddesses. We forget that! We, so often, settle for “boys” instead of real men. Common helps me remember that men can love spiritually, passionately and purely. Also, want to give a big shout out to one of my favorite people, Sugath (another true representation of a real man who loves purely and treats women like queens)! They do exist.
